Zinc-Aluminum Graphite Permanent Mold Albco offers a unique process and material combination. The process of graphite permanent molding coupled with the versatile family of ZA alloys makes for short lead times, precision cast tolerances, excellent detail and superior surface finish. BENEFITS + Cast precision (+/-.005), which reduces secondary machining + Cast surface finish of 125 RMS or better + Piece-to-piece repeatability + Bearing qualities superior to bronze + Tooling leadtimes of 3-6 weeks MATERIAL Our castings are produced from a high strength, engineered, zinc-aluminum alloy, ZA12. This alloy is often the first choice when converting from iron, aluminum, brass or bronze. This alloy is: + Easily machined + Pressure tight + Spark proof + Nonincendiary + Nonmagnetic (suitable for electronic shielding) MOLD MAKING and PROTOTYPES Albco Foundry uses the Graphite Permanent Mold process, which combines the low cost of easily machinable graphite molds with a high-strength, zinc-aluminum alloy, to provide an economical alternative to other manufacturing processes. Normal lead times for production tooling are 3-6 weeks with additional time required for any castings that you would want machined. Albco's in-house mold shop is capable of producing prototypes and molds in less than a few days given the right situation. CASTING CONVERSIONS Albco provides technical assistance for a confidential value analysis of potential ZA applications. We will creatively apply our process to yield "near-net shape" components. Your savings per piece will be measured in dollars, not just cents. * Move mouse pointer over the picture to the right to see a conversion from a steel fabrication to our graphite permanent mold process. * |
